Welcome to the first of its kind, WASH complex, at Paradip.

THE BUS

Here you will find number of amenities exclusively for Women, built inside a scrap BUS. The BUS provides secure, hygienic facilities like Toilets, Shower cum changing room, diaper changing station, sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator to women, completely free of cost. This is managed by women, for women facility that is used by 200 to 400 women on a daily basis since March 2023.

THE CAFE

The PARADIP café built in a shipping container, as part of this complex is a not-for-profit café, designed to cover expenses of the THE BUS, while also providing livelihood to local youth.
This is possible due to the generous support of Paradip Municipality and countless well-wishers.

Beautifully crafted

sustainable café and women’s toilet complex blended creativity with environmental consciousness playing a crucial role in the beach to educate visitors about the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems and how they can help.

Structure is made of upcycled shipping container having seasoned bamboo all around, decorated with Odia calligraphy that tells stories about marine life and sustainability. Attached miniature vulnerable sea animals as an art installation, raising awareness about their plight.

Energy efficient

Community, visitors & traveller engagement spaces focused on sustainability and ocean conservation relaxation area where comfortable seating area on upcycled fishing boat is designed consciously and tables & chairs from upcycled oil drums and fishing nets, integrating small sea animal toys for a whimsical touch. These are not only serving as functional furniture but also as conversation starters.

Natural ambiance is created by Incorporating plants and trees around the café to provide shade and reduce dust. Usage of native species is promoting local biodiversity. Reclaimed shipping container wooden boundary is hand crafted & painted carefully with marine & underwater art forms.

Engaging

The complex has an old bus, that is transformed into a clean, safe toilet facility for women. This not only addresses hygiene needs but also serves as a sustainable architectural piece. Educational graphics about ocean conservation, making it an eye-catching and informative space.

Surrounding is developed with upcycled fishing boats and nets to create unique seating areas / selfie point acting as an art displays, adorned with miniature sea animals. This is encouraging visitors to engage with the theme of sustainability.

Sustainable terracotta vertical garden

Hand crafted bamboo fencing, fishing net with vulnerable sea animals and terracotta pots in the vertical garden setup, focusing on native plants demonstrate its role in combating climate change, ocean pollution and supporting marine life.

Consciously Sculptured

The space is made for workshops on sustainable fishing practices and ocean conservation and invite local experts to share their knowledge and interactive art displays that educate visitors about the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems and how they can help.

Ocean Conservation Messaging got possible by creating an eye-catching art installations made from ocean debris (e.g., reclaimed fishing boat, nets, plastic waste: floating ball ) to raise awareness about marine pollution. These installations are serving as both art and education, encouraging visitors to reflect on their impact on the ocean.

Community is engaged while building and developing the space . Collaborated with local artists for decor and educational content. Community is engaged in maintaining the cafe, garden and installations.

Incorporated local Odia costumes and traditions into the café’s offerings, enriching the cultural experience.

A vibrant hub for sustainability, food, education, and community engagement, all while celebrating the local culture and environment.
